Oza Field Location

Orza Field Location

The Oza Field is an onshore conventional oil field in the eastern Niger Delta (Abia State) of Nigeria, located on dry terrain in the northern part of Oil Mining Lease (OML) 11, and operated by Shell Petroleum Development Corporation (local subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell plc).

The concession covers a 20 sq. km. area carved out of OML 11 in 2003 as part of the Government’s Marginal Field Development Program.

Oza is surrounded by other producing fields operated by Shell Petroleum Development Company, including Isimiri, Obeakpu, Afam, Obigbo, and Umuosi.

Three wells were previously drilled on the Oza Field by Shell, which have produced over 1.0 mm bbls cumulatively, including:

  • Well tests on two wells estimated 2,000 boe/d at 35°/43° API gravity crude oil; and
  • Commenced production through an Early Production Facility (EPF) via the Isimiri Flow Station to the Bonny Crude Oil Terminal, the largest on the African continent.

Oza Field Structure & Prospectivity

The Oza Field has 11 zones of stacked sands, providing conventional oil production from phased vertical development. The sands have been continuous across field delineation wells, which are expected to continue within the concession.

Hydrocarbon presence is expected to be oil in shallow sands, and either oil or gas-condensate in deeper sands.

Four-way dip closure allows for potential for larger structure with fault seal (three-way dip closure).

Strong geophysical interpretation tied to the main field interpretation.

This is a proven hydrocarbon system with anticipated production from a successful drilling campaign. AMR anticipates a phased development plan including re-entry of existing wells, as well as new development and exploration wells.

Oza Field Infrastructure

Due to excellent infrastructure already in place, production can be brought online immediately given existing production facilities and export pipelines with excess capacity.

Facilities will be upgraded to handle production increases, and rental equipment will be replaced with permanent facilities, allowing for potential operating cost reductions as production increases.
